Better Together Mural Project 2.0 2023

Mural Festival Dates: Friday, September 15 to Sunday, October 1, 2023

Community Mural Details: Saturday, September 23 and Sunday, September 24 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM in Bethel Plaza. All are welcome to participate. Free of charge, no reservations necessary.

Teen Art Workshop Details: An exclusive workshop just for teens led by artist Devin Urioste will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. Registration for this workshop is required. Workshop cost is $10 to cover the cost of materials. Scholarships are available to city residents.

Background

The City of Glenwood Springs is excited to announce the second annual mural project, Better Together 2.0, a festival-style event aimed at bringing more publicly accessed, original artwork to the downtown core. Between September 15 and October 1, 2023, ten selected Colorado artists will paint their murals on pre-identified electrical boxes and designated facades.

In addition to interacting with the artists and watching the murals come to life, community members are invited to work alongside a participating artist to paint a community mural on September 23 and 24, 2023 in Bethel Plaza. All are invited to drop-by anytime from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM either day and help paint with guided instruction.

“Anyone can paint, no experience required,” shared Arts Supervisor Annie Henninger. “This mural is for our Glenwood community, by our community and we really hope residents stop by to create with us.”

Annual mural projects like these celebrate and connect to the spirit and history of art and culture in Glenwood Springs, and further the goals outlined in the City of Glenwood Springs’ Public Art Plan:

Detalles del Taller de Arte para Adolescentes: Un taller exclusivo sólo para adolescentes, dirigido por el artista Devin Urioste tendrá lugar el sábado 23 de septiembre de 2023 de 1:00 PM a 2:30 PM. Es necesario inscribirse para este taller. El costo es de $10, para cubrir el valor de los materiales. Hay becas disponibles para los residentes de la ciudad.

Información de Contexto

La ciudad de Glenwood Springs se complace en anunciar el segundo proyecto anual de murales, Better Together 2.0, un evento estilo festival cuyo objetivo es llevar más obras de arte originales y de acceso público al centro de la ciudad. Entre el 15 de Septiembre y el 1 de Octubre de 2023, diez artistas seleccionados de Colorado pintarán sus murales en cajas eléctricas previamente identificadas y fachadas designadas.

Además de interactuar con los artistas y ver cómo cobran vida los murales, los miembros de la comunidad están invitados a trabajar junto a un artista participante para pintar un mural comunitario los días 23 y 24 de Septiembre de 2023 en Bethel Plaza. Todos están invitados a pasar por aquí en cualquier momento de 10:00 AM a 3:00 PM y ayudar a pintar con instrucciones guiadas. 

“Cualquiera puede pintar, no se requiere experiencia”, compartió la Supervisora de Artes, Annie Henninger. "Este mural es por y para nuestra comunidad de Glenwood, y realmente esperamos que los residentes vengan a crear con nosotros".

Los proyectos anuales de murales como éste celebran y conectan con el espíritu y la historia del arte y la cultura de Glenwood Springs, y promueven los objetivos esbozados en el Plan de Arte Público de la ciudad de Glenwood Springs:
