The City of Glenwood Springs is excited to announce that the Parks and Recreation department was selected with the winning cover photo and story for the July National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) magazine. The photo pictures Isaac Alonso, who has been participating in Glenwood Springs’ therapeutic recreation program and developing his love for climbing while building his confidence and strength.

Captured by Parks and Recreation Marketing Coordinator Joe Van Wyk, Glenwood Springs was chosen amongst a competitive selection process from all the United States Parks and Recreation agencies who submitted photos to be chosen for the July cover. This national recognition includes the cover, an article in the publication, and a special podcast episode featuring Community and Therapeutic Recreation Supervisor Laine Fabijanic.

Glenwood Springs City Council will celebrate this honor and the beginning of National Parks and Recreation month with a proclamation at the July 6 meeting.
